Vintage 1970s West Highland Pottery Co. Pheasant Dish – Made in Scotland
£18.00
Beautiful, highly collectible mid-century piece of Scottish heritage. This rectangular porcelain trinket/butter dish was crafted in the 1970s by the renowned West Highland Pottery Co. Ltd. in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland. It features a highly detailed, classic transfer illustration of a cock and hen ring-necked pheasant in mid-flight amidst rustic branches. Flanked by prominent, elegant squared handles heavily finished with a thick, bright gold-gilded trim that wraps entirely around the scalloped rim. It features the complete, crisp circular 1970s manufacturer mark on the reverse confirming its authentic origin: "Made in Scotland by West Highland Pottery Co. Ltd. Dunoon - Argyll.". It weighs 198g, its measurements are 22cm length, 8.5cm width, and 1.5cm height. In excellent vintage condition, the bright gold gilding on both handles and the rim is 100% intact, exhibiting excellent luster with no signs of common rubbing, thinning, or dishwasher wear. The porcelain glaze is remarkably smooth and clear, completely free from cracks, chips, fleabites, or age-related glaze crazing.
A perfect addition to a collection of Scottish souvenir ware, country sports decor, or game bird porcelain. It functions beautifully as a traditional shortbread or butter server, a sophisticated vanity trinket tray, or a visual accent piece for a country home interior. Collectible, Collector's item.
