Rare 1970s Vintage CC HP "Vicar and Tart" Ceramic Novelty Salt and Pepper Shaker Set

highly collectible, vintage 1970s/1980s hand-painted ceramic novelty salt and pepper shaker set featuring the iconic "Vicar and Tart" characters by CC HP Pottery. This whimsical pair is a quintessential example of mid-century British seaside humor. While the shakers depict a conservative, primly posed clergyman from the front, turning them around reveals the cheekily designed visual punchline, a stark contrast between the vicar's modest grey suit and the woman's entirely exposed, bare-backed black corset. The set features a wonderfully crisp, dark blue stamped manufacturer’s mark reading "© HP" encapsulated in a classic rectangular border underneath the base, confirming its authenticity for discerning collectors. Both figures feature vibrant, glossy overglaze paint work with beautifully preserved character details. The set weigh 164g, the salt shaker measurements are 4.5 cm diameter at the base, 3cm diameter at the top and 10 cm height. The pepper shaker measurements are 4.5cm diameter at the base, 2cm diameter at the top and 10cm height. In excellent vintage condition, the glaze remains bright and lustrous with no chips, cracks, or heavy signs of wear. A superb, crisp addition to any serious novelty cruet or retro ceramic collection! Collectible, Collector's item.
